This is the only Muerto Reposado that will ever exist. A single barrel, selected by the Club, bottled at cask strength — 54.4% ABV, untouched and uncut. Once these bottles are gone, there will never be another.

The New York New Jersey Agave Club holds a special place in the Siempre story. Their mission goes beyond being true aficionados of agave — they show up for the community through charity work, fundraising, and shining a light on lesser-known producers and brands. Releasing this barrel to them wasn’t a marketing idea. It was the only outcome that made sense.

Muerto began as a project that was never meant to be — a concept dreamed up by friends on the terrace at the Vivanco distillery. It felt too complex and too time-consuming to bring to life… until the distillery boiler broke while two fermentation tanks sat full: one fermenting wildly with agave fibers, the other a wild fermentation without. We couldn’t distill — so we waited.

That “problem” became the turning point. The fermentation stretched past 30 days, becoming one of the longest tequila fermentations ever recorded. What many would call waste, we chose to honor. Sergio Cruz, our master distiller, worked the distillation with care and precision, yielding two distinct batches — each with their own character.

Remy Newland, one of tequila’s greatest palates and a dear friend of this community, was the first to taste both. When asked which she preferred, she simply said: blend them.

That single recommendation changed everything. The blend became something special — and after bottling, enough remained to fill nine barrels. Eight will continue aging into extra-añejo. One was chosen by members of the New York New Jersey Agave Club to become this single barrel.

In the spirit of Muerto, this release is about what lives on. It honors the people who make tequila, the friends who shape it, and the legacy that remains when they’re gone. Through the New York New Jersey Agave Club and the Gente Buena Foundation, every bottle turns a rare pour into real impact for the communities of Jalisco — clean water, medical care, and support where it matters most. Rest in peace, Remy. And thank you for keeping this story alive.
